Questions about the Garden?

01

Do I have to bring my own tools?

All gardeners must bring their own gardening tools and supplies; these may include a watering can, trowel, gloves, vegetable stakes, containers for harvesting produce, etc. If you do not have any gardening tools but would still like to tend a plot, please contact the garden coordinator using the "Contact Us" link above.

02

Where will I get water?

We are excited to offer rain barrels on site for easy watering. This method of water collection will help us use water smartly and efficiently. It is the gardener's responsibility to bring his/her own watering can to distribute water throughout the plot. Soaker hoses are not permitted. It is our wish to have well water pumps placed in the future; this will be funded via donations from plot rentals and the farmer's market.

03

What does the garden look like?

The garden is located behind the pole barn, to the left of the entrance to the property. Each garden plot measures approximately 8' x 20'. Rain barrels are located nearby rows for easy watering; barrels are shared by all gardeners. A trash can, recycle bin, and compost pile are located nearby to help keep the garden looking beautiful. Parking is permitted in front of the pavilion in all graveled areas. Please do not drive on ungraveled areas.

04

Can I use pesticides and fertilizer?

New Beginnings is committed to preserving creation {the earth and our bodies} as well as to providing a landscape for growing yummy food free of chemicals. It is our mission for the gardens to be organic. Please see our Helpful Hints page for ideas on keeping a healthy garden without using chemicals. If you have concerns regarding our no-chemical preference, please contact the Garden Coordinator using the "Contact Us" link.

05

What will be done to protect my plot?

At this time we do not have a perimeter fence around the garden. It is our goal to use donation funds to begin this process; in the mean time, gardeners are permitted to use small fencing and netting around only their own plot. Fences and nets must be kept within the boundaries of the plot and must not be in the walkways.
